KAZSERVICE AND NCOC HOLD A SEMINAR ON LOCAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRYAstana

The Union of Oilfield Service Companies of Kazakhstan, KazService, and the Operator of the North Caspian Project, North Caspian Operating Company N.V. (NCOC), held a joint seminar themed “Local Content in Goods: Strategic Development of the Country and the Industry”.
The seminar, hosted in Astana, was organised by KazService and NCOC for Kazakhstani companies and brought together leading experts, representatives of the oil and gas industry, governmental bodies and domestic manufacturers.
The event was aimed to increase the involvement of local manufacturers in major oil and gas projects and strengthen business ties between local businesses and the Operator of the North-Caspian project.
The seminar participants were greeted by the representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a representative of Eni, a representative of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken," and the management of the KazService Union.
, IMBC and NCOC, and representatives of shareholders of the North Caspian project. The speakers emphasised the importance of localisation in the oil and gas industry for the economy of Kazakhstan and the need to support domestic business within the Consortium operations.
NCOC representatives shared insights into local content development and the NCOC’s initiatives to support and promote local manufacturers. According to Yerlan Mukay, NCOC Deputy Managing Director, “The mechanisms used by NCOC indicate the commitment of the Operator of the North Caspian Project to support local production and to strive for sustainable development of the economy of Kazakhstan. Only through joint efforts we can create a stronger, more independent economy capable of responding to modern challenges in an effective manner.”
As part of the seminar, a ceremony was held to sign commercial agreements between NCOC and local enterprises, under which the Operator of the North Caspian Project plans to procure goods and services of local manufacturers for its operations at the Kashagan field.
One of the key aspects of the seminar was bilateral meetings in the B2B format, where local companies had opportunity to communicate directly with representatives of NCOC’s relevant business units and to discuss potential cooperation.
The participants emphasized that seminars organised by KazService are an important informational and dialogue platform, which should be maintained on an ongoing basis to strengthen partnerships amongst various stakeholders in the area of local content.
In total, the seminar was attended by representatives of 100 Kazakhstan companies from 11 regions of the country. At the end of the seminar, Rashid Zhaksylykov, Chairman of the Presidium of KazService, noted, “Cooperation with the Operator of the North Caspian Project will help us to use the potential of Kazakhstan's local business to create a high-quality market.”
