You must know this things about your country before meeting with different countries' delegates!
Hello, my name is Altair, and recently I was invited as a speaker of the Global Youth Forum that was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. If you want to learn about others, you also have to know what to share about yourself with them, so did I in this forum. I want to share a little data on what you should know about your country because you definitely will be the person, from whom foreigners will make a general view about your nation and country.
1. Your history
Chinese: - Who is Abai?
I don't know how I could manage to say his "Ғылым таппай мақтанба" poem's part ("Бес нәрсеге асық бол.."). I confess.. I forgot a bit of it 😔
Japanese: - Why are you so small in number? Do you speak only Russian? So did you lose your language?
I got shocked by his last question. I started explaining whole history from Abulkhaiyr Khan's decision to join our country into Russian Empire (1731) to the genocide of our nation during Stalin's repressions (1929-1933). Know your country's history to dispel false assumptions of others about your country since these people will speak to their own nation about what they have known about Kazakhstan.
2. Your culture
- dombyra: I am proud to play "Ерке сылқым" and "Балбырауын" күй-es in front of them. Honestly, they were shocked by how fast we locate our fingers from one note to another while playing our instrument.
- jewellery for girls: Idk anything about that. Don't think that if you are a man, you don't have to know girls stuff, and vice-versa if you are a woman.
3. Your national food (and other unusual food you eat mostly in only your country)
- Kazy, plov, manty, et nan, ikra. trust me, you should know the answer to the question "why do kazakhs eat hourse meat?" XD
Otherwise, you will probably be ashamed by yourself for not knowing your national cuisine while having opportunities to taste it since childhood. Yes, in this summer I will spend my money for getting acquaintances with my nation's national food (for eating, actually 😆)
4. Your geography
- Why do we have a very hot and cold climate?
I have written my Geography exam (МЭСК) recently, and I am so thankful to be taught about our country's characteristics deeper. We have three different winds that affect our climate so that we have very cold winters in the north and very hot summers in the south.
Know other countries' facts too. It was interesting to talk about anime and lady bug and super cat with japanese and french delegates. What you want to know else about my experience as a speaker in this forum? Write below in the comments.
