Where? Almaty, Kazakhstan (online) The 11th CALP
will be mainly focused on environmental innovations and transboundary water and climate issues including response to emergency situations, as well as coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the development of Central Asia and Afghanistan. The lectures will provide latest innovative solutions to environmental challenges on national, regional and global levels.The main objective of the 11th CALP
is to build collective leadership, strengthen environmental volunteering, develop the potential, increase the role of youth in transboundary water and climate cooperation in the Central Asia and Afghanistan, and provide a neutral regional platform for youth dialogue.
The CALP provides a neutral regional youth’ dialogue platform for discussing water cooperation, climate change, energy efficiency, response to emergency situations, as well as coronavirus pandemic and its impact in the context of sustainable development of Central Asia and Afghanistan. Among the CALP participants are representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs), state, and academic sectors. Separately, it is worth noting that the CALP graduates are actively involved into activities in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. This contributes to strengthening the role and voice of young professionals in regional cooperation.
In order to ensure transparency of the contest, CAREC will collect applications online starting from June 2, 2020. Therefore, interested applicants from Central Asia and Afghanistan are recommended to complete online registration by clicking on the link – http://calp.carececo.org/
and proceed with following steps:
1 Fill out the online Application Form (in English OR Russian).
2 Upload your essay (in English OR Russian).
3 Upload your CV (in English OR Russian).
4 Upload recommendation letter from the state body (for civil servants only).
Applicants must submit their CV and a brief essay explaining the willingness to participate in this programme: how it will enhance your skills, experience and achievements relevant to regional cooperation in water resources management, innovations, climate change, energy efficiency, gender equality, disaster risk reduction (DRR) in the broader context of risk management and the introduction of risk-informed development, as well as green recovery and building back better, “intersectoral approach” as an opportunity for more rational use of all resources to achieve water, food and energy security in Central Asia in the context of sustainable development. Essay length should not exceed more than one page.
Selection results: CAREC in cooperation with national and international partners shall carefully consider all applications and will select candidates for participation in the Programme. Selected participants will be informed no later than August 15, 2020.Application and documents should be filled up and uploaded no later than July 30, 2020
. Only completed applications will be considered.
Participation in CALP is free of charge; selection is based on open competition.
Preference will be given to the applicants between the ages of 28 to 45, who have work experience in the sphere of environmental protection, water cooperation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, energy efficiency, and disaster risk reduction (DRR).Additional information
Totally about 30 participants will be selected from five CA countries and Afghanistan, as well as it is expected an additional online participation of graduates from the previous CALPs as speakers with presentations of their success stories.
