Chaebols and Churkas
Gosh, Korea is such a bureaucratic state. They say Asia is a high-trust society but no trust to chuchmeks and foreigners.
When you apply to the US colleges they trust your school, ECs, honors and all the stuff you attach in your application.
But when you apply to KAIST, everything you attach must be verified and notarized. I remember I submitted my CV, and they asked me to send official employment certificates or spravka, salary reports, and references of supervisors. My whole application was like 21 pages.
